Dressage Clinics with Jackie Smith
High Knoll Equestrian Center is pleased to offer ongoing clinics featuring the instruction talent of Jackie Smith, from Lyman, Maine. Jackie is an instructor and trainer with 25 years of experience, including achievements such as bronze, silver, and gold medals from the United States Dressage Federation, competing at the highest level of the sport, Grand Prix, and numerous NEDA and all breeds awards. Jackie enjoys working with riders and horses of all levels, but particularly likes helping committed riders who want to develop their dressage skills.

Jackie works primarily out of Maine, spending some winter months in Florida. Her training influences span fifteen years of work with Sue Jaccoma, and include other trainers such as Pam Goodrich, Michael Poulin, Sue Downer, and Ann Gribbons. Additionally, she borrows teachings from John Lyons, Ray Hunt, and Buck Brannaman, using groundwork techniques to lay a foundation of respect and communication that ultimately carries over to work under saddle. In the saddle, she emphasizes the value of a correct, balanced position that enables the rider to give clear, precise aids. The most important tool, in her opinion, is praise -- rewarding our equine partners with good timing and intent.

Jackie's strong work ethic, good instincts, zeal for learning, and unwavering passion for bringing out the best in horses has made her the talented trainer she is today and an instructor dedicated to helping her students reach their own dreams.

Next clinic TBA

High Knoll Equestrian Center wishes to thank Center Hill Barns for construction of the new indoor riding arena! Our new 70x144-ft indoor riding arena is just steps away from the stables and features maintained, dust-free footing, and bright lighting day and night. The arena has been staying warm from the  sun this winter, so our riders are enjoying year-round, comfortable riding. We are also happy with our quiet composite (shingled) roof.
